You can apply to become a driving instructor if:

• You have held a full driving licence for atleast 3 years
• You are 21 or over
• You have not been banned or disqualified from driving in the last 4 years

Your application can be refused if you have:

• Been banned from driving
• 5 or more penalty points
• Been convicted of any non-motoring offences

Your application is unlikely to be accepted if you've been:

• Convicted of a sexual, violent, financial or drug-related crime
• Banned from working with children

Steps to becoming a driving instructor

ADI Part 1
The ADI Part 1 is the first of 3 tests you have to pass to qualify as an ADI. Its a theory test.
There are 2 parts to the test:

• Multiple Choice Questions
• Hazard Perception - A video test about spotting hazards on the road

ADI Part 2
The ADI Part 2 test is a driving test that lasts around an hour, there are 5 parts to the approved driving instructor(ADI) part 2 test:

• An eyesight check
• 'Show Me, Tell Me' vehicle safety questions
• General driving ability
• Manoeuvres
• Independant Driving

The Pass Faster ADI Part 2 Training course includes

• 10 hrs 1 to 1 tuition
• Extra Training for 2nd and 3rd attempt

ADI Part 2 Training - £450

ADI Part 3
If you have succcessfully passed your Part 2 ADI test you then have the option to apply for a 6 month trainee licence during which you can recieve payment to teach students.
The ADI Part 3 test consists of:

• A Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) examiner will watch you giving a client-centred driving lesson to one of your pupils for about 45 minutes.
• At the start of the lesson, discuss the goals for the lesson and risk management with your pupil. This should take no more than 3 minutes.
• Your pupil must drive for about 40 minutes of the lesson.
• You cannot spend the whole lesson teaching a manoeuvre, but you can include a short recap of one you’ve taught in a previous lesson.
• If you need to give your pupil immediate feedback, you are allowed to stop safely during the lesson.
• At the end of the lesson, give your pupil no more than 3 minutes to reflect on their performance.
• The examiner will look for evidence that you meet the national standard for driver and rider training.

The Pass Faster ADI Part 3 Training course includes

• 40 hrs of training to apply for a PDI licence
• Fully qualified instructor observing your lessons as a PDI
• Extra Training Required to pass 2nd or 3rd attempts
• Unlimited access to observe lessons
